Request account deletion

You can ask us to delete your LLS Fire Operations account. You do not need the app to ask. Deletion is not instant, and some records must be kept. This page explains how it works.

Ask here

Email llsfireoperations@gmail.com from the address on your account with the subject "Account deletion request". We reply to that address to confirm it is really you, and we confirm with your department administrator before we act. We do not process a request we cannot verify.

If you still have the app you can instead use About and policies, then Request account deletion: you confirm your password and see the status of your request in the app.

What happens next

We aim to complete every verified request within 30 days and will email you when it is complete. Until we have verified your request your account is unchanged. You can ask us to cancel before processing starts.

  1. We let your department know so it can hand over any responsibilities. If you are the only administrator of a department we ask it to appoint another first, which can delay processing.
  2. Your memberships are deactivated and your sign-in is disabled.
  3. Your notification registrations and preferences are removed or redacted; records that notifications were delivered are kept without the device token.
  4. Your name, profile photo, email address and other contact details are removed or replaced with a placeholder, and roster details such as an employee number are blanked.

What is retained, and why

Records are kept while your department uses the service. We have not set an automatic deletion period for them. Backups, including copies held outside the live database, are kept for recovery and are overwritten on their normal schedule.

When an account is deleted (see Request account deletion), the following are kept because the department and the service need an unbroken record: the audit log (including a record that your memberships were deactivated because of your request) and the history of who was granted what authority; the department's own operational records (check-offs, work, meetings, forms, hydrant reviews), which then no longer carry your name from your profile (names typed into signatures or free-text fields remain); chat messages you posted (text and author), including earlier versions of edited or removed messages, and any reports, report details, copies of reported messages and moderation records that involve you, together with your terms acceptances and block list entries; records that notifications were delivered to you, without the device token; and the deletion request itself. Everything else personal to the account is removed or replaced with a placeholder: your name on your profile, profile photo, email address and other contact details, roster details such as an employee number, notification registrations and preferences, and your ability to sign in (sign-in is disabled).

Because of these retained records your account is removed or de-identified, not erased from every system.
